Andrea Voets

After my childhood in Flanders, I moved to Amsterdam at the age of 17 to study classical music and philosophy. With my parents unable to help me out, I had to independently learn about all ins and outs of the Dutch administrative system. Over the years, I taught myself how to apply for any kind of allowance, fill in at least 3 kinds of tax declarations, fix my health insurance and I set up my own company with an accompanying administration. I mostly hang out with international students and other expats. Word spread that I was the girl to call when scary letters in Dutch and inexplicable bills were piling up.

Soon, I found myself filling in my friend's forms, applying for study-financing, getting exemption from water- and local taxes and negotiating with bailiffs when things had gotten out of hand.

The amount of people who needed help quickly got out of hand, and that's why I started DutchPaperwork in 2013.
